Meet Melodia.
Melodia is a dedicated artist and mother, living and creating in the inspiring calm of the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. Since 2012, she has specialised in oil painting, cultivating her craft with depth and dedication.
Under the mentorship of renowned visionary Professor Philip Rubinov Jacobson, Melodia refined her skills in the Old Masters New Visions seminars across Vienna, Austria, Ubud, Bali, and Boulder, Colorado (2013–2015).
Her portfolio spans classical studies, botanical art, portraiture, and imaginative landscapes — reflecting a commitment to evolving as an artist and breaking free from the constraints of a single genre.
The mische method.
Light built from within.
Melodia works in the historic mische — or "mixed" — technique, a method rooted in the Northern European Renaissance. It involves layering egg tempera underpainting with successive transparent oil glazes, building depth and luminosity that cannot be achieved through any other means.
The result is a quality of light that seems to emanate from within the canvas — the same quality found in the works of the Dutch masters, reinterpreted through a distinctly modern and visionary lens. Each painting takes weeks or months to complete. There are no shortcuts in this process.

Melodia accepts a limited number of commissions each year. The painting above — 'Echeveria' 2019 — was created for a private client in Colorado and now lives in their home as a permanent piece of the family's story.
Commissions are available for portraits, botanicals, pets, landscapes, birthstone and zodiac pieces. Every commission is painted with the full mische technique — the same depth and quality as any gallery original.
